Tuptim 'crown'

In The King and I, Jeanne plays Tuptim, the princess given to the King of Siam.

This is what Mimi and I are in the process of working on:

Jeanne's hair is in a bun which is inside the head piece.
(originally a plastic prune container with gold ribbon glued on it)

the diamonds are a necklace that will clasp behind the bun and then be
pinned in place with hairpins.

the cluster of jewels was from a bracelet....

i've added three more of those jewel medallions all the way around, also added
four smaller ones in between, so it will be very gaudy colorful.

jeanne will have the bun more vertically on the very top of her head so that
the necklace will be dangling around her hairline, and will also be snug against the hair piece.

fun times!

Considering that we had originally thought she'd wear a crown like this....

made of cardboard?  aluminum foil?  insulation? egg cartons?

.....we are thankful for the results!
