zoo-landing

Summer Fun 2008

Our first fieldtrip of the summer was to the National Zoo. We packed a lunch, made it to 7:00 AM Mass, and then buzzed off to the Vienna Metro Stop---orange line here we come! The weather was wonderful! Some of the sights and marvels included the "mile long" escalator out of the metro station, mist stops for cooling off, and seeing everything from komodo dragons to tree shrews. On the way home we made a quick visit at St. Matthews Church which is half a mile from the metro station, prayed for everyone, and then we dropped in at George Washington University Hospital and brought some roses (from the hospital gift shop) up to 5 West to surprise Teresa with a visit. Thankfully, she had just sat down in the nurses lounge for lunch (it was 3 pm), so we did not interupt her at a critical moment, other than it was time to eat! hehe! So after a brief hello we headed back to the metro and returned home by 4:30pm or so. A blessed, beautiful day!!!!!
